Bathing BEAUTY!

Hello to all my blogging friends!
Are you ready for the big holiday weekend? I am not!
We have not made any plans, and I have no idea what we are going to be doing. ACK!
I am sure we will come up with something, but I hate not being prepared :o)

Today I have a LO of my older DD, who is super cute. I don't do that many LO's of her because I am working backwards in my scrapping - I started when my girls were nearly grown. Well, my first born is a wee bit camera shy, hence the lack of photos featuring her smiling face once she got old enough to dodge the camera. But I have lots! of baby pics so that is what I have resorted to. In this photo she was all of a year old, with her cute little chubby legs and her wonderful smile!Oh, WHY do they have to grow up???
Sorry my photo is a little dark! I messed around and didn't take my photo until after dinner and the sun was almost down :(  Anyway, I have used a mix of stuff which is my norm, Websters, Glitz and Best Creations papers, a little bit of Bazzill, some Crafty Secrets (the super cute "post cards") some Prima, Recollections, Tattered Angels, The Girls Paperie, Maya Road, McGill and Fiskars punches, Stickles and of course my VersaMagic inks - I cannot scrap without those!
I am entering this LO in the following challenges:
Sketch: The Scrappiest #133
both of the sketches were very similar, so I decided to combine them and make one FABULOUS LO! Can't go wrong there, right?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

ColourQ - the 100th Palette!!!

So remember last week when I told you it would be a super fun week at ColourQ  this week???
Well ,,,this is the 100th Palette over at ColourQ and everyone made a project using the sketch over at Clean and Simple Stamping  (which is super cute) and a past Colour Palette of their choice. I have turned it into a LO of course and here is a look,
Yes, that is me, way back in the day! I have used MME papers and Bazzill Two Scoops cardstock. I have also used Prima, Martha Stewart, Heidi Grace, Websters and some items from the craft section.

Here is a look at the color palette I chose to work with #21
I didn't have anything that was quite Green Galore, so I subbed something a little darker.

Here is a look at the sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping
Now, I kept it as clean and simple as I could, but really, I have to have my embellies!
Please hop over and take a look at the fabulous projects that the other girls have made - they are super cute!
It is a beautiful day here in Dallas, it might even rain!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Bird is the Word - Memory

Have you been over at the Bird is The Word blog ? I think they have one of the coolest challenges around right now. They just give you a single word - and you have to use that somehow on your layout. Sounds fun right??? Well this time around the word is Memory, and just a couple of days ago I made the cutest LO with Memory as my title - here it is,,,,

I have had this photo for some time, and I just now got around to scrapping it.

I'll be back later with a LO I am working on now. I am super happy - it looks like we MAY not break 100 degrees today!! Yippee!!!

Scrapbookers Anonymous Challenge

Hello to all my blogging friends! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!!
Today I have a book I have been working on for a couple of weeks, it is for the Scrapbookers Anonymous    Challenge. This month the challenge was to use jounraling spots on your project - the more the merrier they said! Well I have used ELEVEN!

A while back I bough several of the Making Memories Spiral Bound Journal books. I use them quite a bit, but there are a LOT of sheets in there! So I have a lot of them on hand. If you follow my blog, you know that my younger DD just graduated from college and I had a bunch of great photos that I wanted to put into one book. But after searching I could not find the right book - you know how that goes! So I decided the best thing to do would be to make my own. This challenge was perfect for that!
Here are a few photos
I have 10 envelope type pages, and 6 of them have a large tag inserted into the end for journaling. (That is 32 sides to cover in case you are counting!) I actually cut and made the book itself with an old ring mechanism that I had on hand. The paper that I wrapped the book in is a heavy Chinese hand painted paper.  Those papers are really nice and thick and have a very nice feel to them, they are almost textured - great for bookmaking. I buy mine at the Paper Source at North Park Mall in Dallas or from Paper Arts, also in Dallas. (this is a GREAT little paper store if you have never been)

The paper for this was Crate Paper - one of the mini stacks. And other than that I used a TON of stuff from here in my studio, far too many to list!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I would love to know what you think of this, so please leave me a comment.

Sketchy Thursday - Play

Fellow bloggers, mark this day down in history, I am posting two projects in one day.

This may never happen again!
Tonight I have a LO for the Sketchy Thursdays Challenge and I am
also entering this in the Stuck On U Sketches   challenge as well.
Here is my LO,,,
My PP is from Heidi Grace and my cardstocks are from my scrap bag. My embellies are from Prima, Maya Road, The Girls Paperie, Pink Paisley, and some random things from my stash.

Here is the Sketch

Lot of fun this week; if you have never played along over at Sketchy Thursdays   please
give them a try, they have great sketches!

I am also entering at Stuck On U Sketches  for the Die Cut Challenge - the word was PLAY. I have used my Cricut Gypsy Wandering to cut my title word for the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!

My Little Princess

Good morning everyone in blogland! So far this morning we are only up to 85 degrees here in the sunny land of Dallas! I think we are headed for 105 again today!!!!
HOT!
Today I have a very cute mini book I made with lots of Maya Road stuff. If there is a cooler company on this earth than Maya Road I don't know who they are - seriously. I am telling you I don't make a project these days without something from Maya Road on it!!
I have used papers from MME Lost and Found Madison Ave mini stack for this and some cardstock scraps.

Well, there you have it. I know it is a little over the top, but I feel that less is not more, it is indeed LESS :o)

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by my blog!
I would to know what you think of my project, so please leave me a comment.

ColourQ #99 and Once Upon A Sketch

Good morning everyone! How is your week going so far? Here in North Texas yesterday was back to school for many of our districts, so I know it was hectic for a lot of my friends. Although I am happy that I am past all of that, I do miss shopping for school supplies!

Today I have my LO for ColourQ  I loved the colors this week, the were just so cheerful!
Here is what I have done with them
The PP is Fancy Pants and the cardstocks are Bazzill The Paper Studio. My embellies are from Prima, Maya Road, Tattered Angels, Heidi Grace, Ranger, Recollections, Fancy Pants and some random craft items. My Punches are from EK Success.

Here is a look at the Colour Palette #99
Love the colors, so bright and cheerful! So easy to work with this week!
Please take a hop over to the blog to see what the other fabulous ladies have come up with.

Next week will be the 100th Colour Palette and we have something special going on for you over at ColourQ  so you will want to be sure to check it out!

I am also entering this over at Once Upon A Sketch this week.
Here is a look at their wonderful sketch,,
In addition to the sketch we were to also use two lines of lyrics from any song.
I chose lyrics from the song "Memory" from the soundtrack of Cats to go along with my title.

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a peek at my blog.

Hope where ever you are is cooler than where I am! We may dip below 100 degrees by the end of the week. Maybe!

Fair Day

Ok, Seriously, does anybody else have as many problems with Blogger as I do??? It seems like every time I post there is something wrong!!! I have been trying for DAYS to set the font/color/size of the text for my posts, so that I don't have to come in and select them each and every time. All to no avail. I hit "apply" and I still have to select every preference every time! AAARRRRGGGG!!!!!!!

Ok, I am off my tirade now.
Today I have a LO that I have entered in the Texas State Fair Creative Arts competition. I have never entered the competition before, but it is my favorite part of the Fair every year. I love to go thru the building and look at all the wonderful projects that won ribbons. There is everything from Quilts to the Shoe Art competition. Really fun stuff! Here is my entry,,,,
I have used papers from October Afternoon, Websters and Crate Paper as well as Bazzill cardstock. My embellies are from Prima, Glitz, Recollections, Tim Holtz, Maya Road, K&Co and others. My punches are EK Success and Fiskars and I have used my Cricut as well. I have used my VersaMagic inks and stitched with my sewing machine. My ribbon is May Arts.

I hope your weekend was wonderful!
Here's hoping your week is great too :o)
Thanks for stopping by my blog,
I love to read your comments, please leave some love!

Be Happy - Eat Cake!

This has always been my philosophy, which I guess is why I made cakes for so many years. Now whenever someone I know is having an event, you can be sure that I will be called to make the cake.  Not that I mind, that means lots of cake scraps and icing in the kitchen!
Here is a cake I made for a friend's quinceanera.
YUMMY!!!
I spent days making all the little flowers and pearls that were on this cake. And it took about 30 minutes for it to be gone.
Such is life!

Fabric Flower Tutorial

Howdy fellow bloggers!
It was a RECORD 107 degrees here in Dallas today!
I didn't even leave the house until it was dark - too hot!

Today I have a tutorial on the very cute fabric flowers I made for my State Fair mini that I posted a couple of days ago. I am sure I am not the only one who has ever made these flowers, so I am by no means claiming this idea as my own- but this is how I make them.
Aren't these too cute? I love the homespun feel of them.
Here is how I make them

I use the Sizzix die with the 4 circles on it, 3 pieces of cotton fabric in coordinating patterns and a die cut machine. I used my original sizzix for this one, but a Cuttlebug works just as well.
I cut all the fabrics at one time.
Now we have 3 circles of each pattern fabric. Choose one circle of each size for your flower.
What you want to do now is to make the edges a little worn looking. I do this by going along the edge of each circle and pulling the threads. Some of the threads will come loose, some will come out completely. This is OK - the fabric will also pucker a little as you do this. Repeat for each circle.
I only used 3 layers to make my flowers.
See how the edges are a curled and a little ragged now.
Secure all the layers together, my fav is to use
the Tiny Attacher from Tim Holtz - love that thing!
Then we need to add a center, I used a button here, but you can use brads, bling, use your I-top brad maker and matching fabric - whatever strikes your fancy!
And that is it - I hope you have a great time making flowers. These look great on Christmas gifts too, just in case you are thinking that far ahead :o)

Texas State Fair

Howdy Ya'll!
From the Greatest State ever, we have the best State Fair - or so we think anyway ;) !
I have to share today a book I have made with some random memories of the State Fair of Texas - we are celebrating 125 years this year, so I thought what a great idea to do a scrapbook to go along with that!
Here are some of the photos,,,,
I have used quite a hodge podge of supplies in this, so I am not even going to name them off.
I took stuff from all over the room!
I can say that I started with Teresa Collins blank tab sheets
as the primitive base and went from there.
I used a magazine article from a few years ago for the background paper here - I knew sooner
or later I would scrap the State Fair, so I hung onto that article.
I also committed a crime, I know, by actually cutting up a couple of books to get some
old colorized photos out of them. But photocopying is illegal.
 Big Tex is the Man!

You have to go see the Pig Races if you go to the Fair - no two ways about it.
The Midway and Funnel Cakes are a tradition in out family!

So one year, my husband goes and invites THE ENTIRE CONTINGENT OF ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE to our house for dinner. Really? They were performing at the fair that year - it must be a cop thing. We had just bought the house and we were not even unpacked yet!
The USMC Drum and Bugle Corp - they have their own square at the Fair
because they are there every year.
Look at that cool ruffle - I sewed this ribbon onto the edge of one of the pages. I have had that ribbon for like a year waiting to use it on something!

Stop back by tomorrow ~ I will be posting a tutorial on how I made the
fabulous fabric flowers I used in the book.

Also, check out my Facebook page as I will be posting more detailed photos of the book there.
Thanks so much for hopping by!
