Happy Birthday ColourQ!!

It is the 2nd birthday over at  ColourQ and to celebrate we have all CASEd
a former Colour Queen.I chose Colour Queen #71, because I loved
the little ruffled ribbon running across her card.
Here is a look at my LO this week
Here is a look at our Palette this week #104

I have used the very fun sketch from over at Creative Scrappers  for my LO this week
How fun is this! I move my photos over to the side instead of down the middle,
but I loved adding all the little strips of punched goodness and lace!

Please be sure to join us over at ColourQ  - and be sure to stop by and
take a look at the fabulous projects that the other DT members had made!

Have a wonderful evening :o)

On the Road Again with Paper Issues

Monday again. Where did my weekend go????
I am sure it wasn't long enough!
Today I have a very cute LO of my DH - I am making an album of his baby pics.
This one was sometime around Christmas that year, right after I believe,
because the tree was still up in the original photo. So I am linking
this up over at Paper Issues where the challenge this go round is "Tree Huggers".
I cropped the tree out when I scanned, because I wanted to focus on DH's cute little face!
Here is a look at the LO
This album is 8.5 X 8.5 and I am using the Cosmo Cricut Rocket Boy line of papers and embellies along with some coordinating things from my stash. This cute little car paper piecing is something I saved from my recycle / give away pile. I bought it I don't know how many years ago at a show, along with lots of others, and I never used a one of them.
But my goal this whole year has been to
USE THE STUFF I HAVE
and I have been doing a great job of it!!!
My paper stash has been cut in HALF I tell you!
HALF!!!
Why, soon it will be time to run out and buy more :o)

Be sure to stop by Paper Issues because they have some fab
projects linked up over there right now.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Once Upon A Sketch -

Hello Blogging Friends! Hope you are having a marvelous Sunday :o)
I seemed to have lost my Mojo this last week - if you see it,
would you please send it back to me? I just have not been in the crafty mood!

Onward and upward - Over at Once Upon A Sketch  , the challenge this month is to journal directly on your photo. I do this all the time, because I like the way it looks! So here is my LO for the challenge.
I started with Bazzill cardstock and spattered it with my
Pearlescent Liquid Acrylics. The PP is from Jillibean Soup,
and I have used Prima, Tim Holtz, Maya Road, K&Co,
Websters Pages, EK Success, American Crafts
and some stuff from my stash.

Have a wonderful week!

Just For Fun Stamps - More Cards

Good evening blogging friends! Are you ready for the weekend??? I am!!!
I have a couple of cards today that I made using Just For Fun Stamps - they have some great ones!
I really love this dress form and chandelier I have used on this first card -
I have heat embossed the design on the dress from, and then used my Twinkling H2O's to color it in. It really does have a lot of color in it - I could not get a good photo of it :o(

This second card I have used some travel background stamps and one of the Faux Postage stamps, these are so versatile - I only used a portion of the stamp here to fit my photo.
I have used 7 Gypsies and MME papers on both of these, plus some scraps from my table for the rows of punched scallops on the second card.

Friday is almost here! I hope you have great plans - we have a big event this weekend, and I have to get ready tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Frosted Designs & Scrapbookers Anonymous - Butterfly Canvas

Two posts in one day - that almost never happens!
I have been wanting to try this art form for a while - I bought these canvases at least a year ago!
The challenges over at Frosted Designs and Scrapbookers Anonymous  this week were
the perfect thing to get me moving.
I cut I don't know how many of these butterflies out - I didn't use them all, but
I wanted to make sure that I had enough.
I inked them all (time consuming!!!) before I started on the canvas.
I painted gesso along the path that I wanted my butterflies to go.
I stuck a few of the butterflies in the gesso for texture.
I added drops of paint all along the canvas and then
used my Tattered Angels and the negative of the punched
paper to spray some texture on top of the white gesso.
I finished the butterflies in different ways, some with pearls,
some with glitter, some with crackle, with Glitter Glam,
with Modge Podge, - lots of things.

I sprayed the whole thing down with Smooch Spritz (Vanilla) for added sparkle when I was done.

I really enjoyed making this, and I am thinking of others that I can make.
Christmas presents maybe????
Thanks for stopping by today.
Be sure to hop over to Scrapbookers Anonymous to  see the fab projects there and
then head over to Frosted Designs to check them out!
Wonderful projects to see at both blogs.
Have a great day!

ColourQ #103 - Happy!

Good morning fellow bloggers!
I can't believe it had been a week since my last post!
I took a break and went to the CK Convention down in San Marcos
with a friend. We had a great time - took some classes, did a little shopping,
did a little cropping,,,,,, now it is back to housecleaning and life!
Today I have for you my ColourQ #103 DT Layout. The colors this week were a bit
of a stretch for me - purples and lavenders are the colors I work with the least!
Here is my take on it,,,
I have used Basic Grey and Bazzill, Jenny Bowlin, 7 Gypsies, Clear Snaps, Prima, My Cricut, EK Success punch, some bling, and some seam binding from my stash. The hat pins are ones I made myself.

Here is a look at the colour palette this week
Please hop over to the ColourQ Blog and take a look at the wonderful
things from the rest of the Design Team. They are all so talented!
Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you are having a great week so far!

Sketchy Thursdays

Happy Sunday everyone!
I hope you are having a relaxing one whatever you are doing.
I thankfully do not have many things on my To Do list today, so I get to play around a little!
Today I have a LO with silly faces made by the Co-conspirator next door.
These were taken at my DD's graduation party.
I have used the sketch from over at SketchyThursdays  which
I thought was too cute this week.
My background paper is Black & Kraft Diamonds from Canvas Corp, so I am also linking up over at Kraft It Up! , the other criteria for their challenge was to use fabric, which I have used fabric ribbon and to use stitching, which of course I have!
My other papers are from Tim Holtz (the Postage Stamp PP), and everything else is MMM.
The Chipboard piece I have had FOREVER. Literally FOREVER. It is one of the first things I bought way back when I started scrapping, it came in a sheet of die cut heart pieces. They are all so cute, and I have never used them!!! Thank you Scrapbookers Anonymous   for the prompt or this would probably still be sitting in it's package :o)

Here is a look at the fab sketch from Sketchy Thursdays
See, I told you it was cute!

Also linking to these challenges:
Kraft It Up - Kraft Paper, Fabric and stitching
Frosted Designs - Postage Stamps

I don't normally combine this many challenges, but these just all fell into place!
I also wanted to share a couple of photos of some backyard visitors. Every spring / summer we have a veritable nursery in our backyard. There are so many baby birds, squirrels, raccoons, opossums - you name it. Here are a couple that we have hanging out right now;

How cute are these little guys? I have been trying for weeks to get a clear photo of the woodpecker babies (the one with the red cap on above) but their feathers are such good camouflage that my lens has the hardest time focusing on them! And they move SOOOO fast!
Thanks for stopping by today.
Please keep our soldiers and their families in your thoughts.
As a retired Marine wife, I know that sometimes the toughest job can be sitting at home.
May God please bring all our soldiers home. Thank you.

Cards to share

Hello my blogging friends :o)
As a change of pace, I am making a few cards this week. I have some
wonderful stamps from Just For Fun Stamps   I visit with these wonderful people
every year at the Stamp Scrap Art Tour   and Debbie asked me to make a few
samples for her this past year. These are some of the cards
from the fall batch that I will be sending her.
In addition to the so cute stamps from JFF, I have used my 7 Gypsies papers, my nesties, some random flowers, KaiserKraft,  Hambly screen prints, Websters ribbon.

I have use my 7 Gypsies papers again, some buttons, ribbons and flowers from my stash.

Tomorrow I will have a couple more cards using the faux postage stamps that JFF has.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Doing the Happy Dance!

Do you remember the Big Tex album that I posted a few weeks ago - the one I was
entering in the State Fair of Texas Creative Arts Competition?
Guess What?
I won second place!!!
I really could not believe it!
This is my first year to enter and I had no idea what to expect or how they
judged so I was not expecting anything. I was SO shocked to see that
little "2" next to my entry on the list!
I can't wait to see my album in that display case with that
Red Ribbon hanging next to it.

Here is a look at the cover of the album
To see the whole project, you can go to THIS POST
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week - we are having the most beautiful weather
here in Dallas at the moment. I even have the windows open with the breeze blowing.

ColourQ 101 and Walking in the Clouds

Good morning everyone! I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend :o)
Today I have a LO I made with some of my photos from my trip to Guatemala. Myself and another lady escorted 15 teenage girls to Guatemala for a Girl Scout trip back in 2008. We had the most amazing time! On the first full day there we hiked up a volcano and at the top we were literally standing in the clouds. It was spectacular! Then we picnicked for lunch in the rain - not so spectacular!
For my LO today I have used ColourQ Palette #101  for my colors. I promise you that my background cardstock is Pool Party - I just could not take a photo of it no matter what I did!
Yes, I know that "Guatemala" is misspelled on the LO - it was a running joke.
I have also used some of my Basic Grey for this, Lily Kate and Porcelain, as well as Maya Road, Websters, Prima, Martha Stewart, Making Memories, some random chipboard and VersaMagic.

Here is the Colour Palette that I have used

I have also used two sketches from Sketch Savvy for this LO.

Thanks for stopping by today!

School Days - those funky highschool years!

Let me just preface this post by saying that is a damn good thing that my
DH does not read my blog.
For if he did I would surely be divorced after today!
I have boxes and boxes of photos of my DH as a child - he is an only child - and
I am slowly but surely scrapping them.
So when Paper Issues had a prompt for school themed projects,
I knew I could find something in the piles of his photos.
And let me also just say, that my poor beleaguered DH must have been in the awkward teenage boy phase when this was taken, because it bears NO resemblance to him now!
I have used Bo Bunny, some of my VERY OLD Daisy D's, some sheet music,
Creative Imaginations, MME, Tim Holtz, Maya Road, some chipboard pieces
that I have had forever and I have inked and sewn in places.

I have used sketch #54 from over at  Sketches in Thyme and here is a look at the fabulous sketch
I have rotated it to fit my photo.

Thanks for stopping by today.
I am off to a Food Swap tonight, it is my first time.
We all make a few little somethings and then trade with everybody
else for their little somethings. Fun, huh!
