Summertime Yard Games

Our family loves to get together in the summertime and we love to play games. One of the first games that the little kids learn to play involves dice, and I thought it would be awesome fun this year to play the game in the yard with super sized dice.

I used Smoothfoam 5x5x5" Cubes, painted them with two coats of white acrylic paint and let them dry. For the "spots" I punched black cardstock into 1" circles and adhered. To finish off, I added a coat of Matt Mod Podge to seal them- who knows what they might be thrown in.

Be sure to check out the Smoothfoam Blog for lots of amazing ideas. Thanks so much for stopping by today and have an amazing weekend!

Fairfield Pillow Fight

This month as part of our manufacturer challenge for Designer Crafts Connection we are having a Pillow Fight sponsored by Fairfield World.

See below for a coupon code!

I love to sew and I have been doing more lately than I have in the past couple of years. I had forgotten how much I missed it! We have been redoing the spare/guest bedroom and are almost to the end of the road, thank goodness! I wanted to add a little more color to the bed linens so pillows was the perfect answer.

We have beautiful gray walls in the room, with neutral bed covers. I am so in love with the color teal so I wanted to bring it into the room. I had a couple of throw pillows, great big ones and a little bitty long one. I needed something to bridge the gap. I made these two with the Soft Touch Pillow 10x10. My fabric is from ADORNit and JoAnns.

My trim is from Decorative Trimmings- because nothing is complete without some ribbon! We all know I love ric-rac and I really love it on pillows.

Be sure to hop through the webring- you can use the arrows under the Designer Crafts Connection logo on my sidebar to the right. There are lots of fabulous projects to see.

Need to do some crafty sewing yourself? Use this code AMYCOUP to receive 20% off your order at Fairfield World through the end of June.

Back to School Desk Decor

Hi everyone, I was recently challenged to work on some classroom decor and I had a lot of fun with it. I wanted something small and cute that could go on each student's desk. I was working with some amazing products from Deflecto Craft- they are so versatile!
I actually broke down and pulled out some of my vintage Daisy D's paper- they are just so beautiful!! I had some that I knew would be prefect for this project.

I used a Mini Slanted Sign Holder and attached it on top of my block with double stick tape. These little holders are just 1 1/2 x 2 inches, and they would be so cute as place cards on a table too!

I decorated a small wood block with pattern papers, and used coordinating papers to decorate a baby food jar as a pencil holder. I used a journal card and mini alpha stickers to add the name in the Mini Slanted Sign Holder

I added some school themed ribbon, painted star, wood button and twine in the upper corner of the holder to finish the project off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful weekend.

Home Banner with Ann Butler Designs

Hi everyone and welcome to the Ann Butler Designs / ClearSnap sponsored hop with Designer Crafts Connection. I was so happy when I opened my package from Ann with the new stamps and inks made by ClearSnap in them, they are amazing!

Here is a look at my project

I stamped on several fabrics before I settled on the one I liked the best- I liked them all, but I liked canvas the best! I used the new Desert Sand ink, Picnic 1 and Picnic 2 background stamps for this door hanging. I stamped Picnic 1 in the corners, and masked Picnic 2 to stamp just the narrow border around the center. The chipboard is inked in the new Blueberry ink- love this color! and heat embossed with ultra thick clear embossing powder. I finished it off with some ric-rac from Decorative Trimmings and a couple of paper flowers. I added a loose zig zag stitch around the edge to help stop the fraying.

Be sure to check out Ann Butler Designs to see all the amazing goodness she has going on! I have a mini quilt in the works with these stamps too, they are just so cute! Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Summer Fun Welcome Banner

Summer is here- let's bring on the BBQ, family, and fun times. This mounth out theme for Deflecto Craft is Summer Fun.
http://deflectotocraftwith.blogspot.com/

We always seem to have people in the house all summer long, which I love. I wanted something special for the little table in my entry way to welcome everyone in and this is what I came up with.

I am in love with these VersaGrip Magnetic Sign holders- they have so many uses. For this project I added them to my Ikea candle holders to hold my banner. The grip sign holder at the top is so great for holding little odds and ends!

I added bows and buttons to the front of the VersaGrip holders.

I decorated the candle holders with punched stars, some of which I added pop dots under.

I decorated two of the Slanted Sign Holder 3x4" and added to the display, using coordinating papers, ribbons, and the cutest lady-bug buttons taken off of a sweater from years ago.

Be sure to check out the Deflecto Crafts Facebook Page and our new blog for amazing ideas!

Birthday Calendar Box

It is time for another first Monday blog hop at Designer Crafts Connection. This month our theme is "Let's Party". In order to keep track of the parties I need to be at, I made a perpetual Birthday Calendar Box!

I have had this class swirling in my mind for some time, and it has taken me a while to make it reality. I knew kinda what I wanted, but I just couldn't seem to work out the logistics of the box. I finally gave up and made the box myself :)

I used Sizzix mat board to create the box. I used Graphic 45 Home Sweet Home paper line to decorate the box and make the inserts.

I wanted a little texture on the sides. I ran actual duct tape from the hardware store through my Cuttlebug using an embossing folder. Since the duct tape is an actual tape, I just peeled the paper off the back and stuck it on :)

I used a new wood token from Maya Road and a vintage chipboard butterfly from Tattered Angels on the front.

Be sure to check out all the projects in the web ring. Use the arrows under the logo in my sidebar to the right to navigate through the ring. There are so many talented artists in the group, there is so much to see!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, have a wonderful week!
