Mixed Media Mini Album with Rebekah Meier

Rebekah Meier Mixed Media Album
Howdy Y'all! I am super happy to joining in the fun with the Designer Crafts Connection for a blog hop using Rebekah Meier's new line of Mixed Media products from Thermoweb. I have created a Mixed Media Butterfly mini album using a Maya Road blank for the hop.

Rebekah Meier Mixed Media Products
I received a great selection of products from Thermoweb - thanks so much!  I am having so much fun creating with them.

Altered Album cover

First thing I painted a base coat on my album cover and did a little distressing. (sorry about how dark this photo is! I didn't realize it was so terrible until I was editing ) A coat of white gesso, then two colors of Pickling Wash from Plaid. Those things are the bomb y'all if you haven't tried them!

Rebekah Meier Art Paper

So the Mixed Media Art Paper is pretty cool y'all. The paper itself is almost a canvas texture and it has a sticky back. So you can paint it, spray it, watercolor it, and splatter it, then when it is dry, peel the backing off and stick it down! A-maz-ing!

Mixed Media die cut flowers
I used some Eileen Hull from Sizzix dies to cut my Art Paper after it was dry. I inked the edges, then crinkled the paper all up. Because I didn't want the paper backing on when I layered the flowers, I took the backing off and rubbed a little baby powder on each one to take the sticky away.

Tim Holtz Stencil
I used a wood frame on the cover. I used the Mixed Media Medium to coat the frame and let it almost dry. While it was still tacky I applied the  foil sheet and rubbed - BAM! Instant foil!
So,, then once I had the frame glued down, I realized that I had intended to use a stencil on the front of the album. Dammit. So I cut a Tim Holtz small stencil down to fit. Sometimes art is painful!

Here are a few close up shots of the album.

Album Charms
I love this little charm - I think it's from Maya Road but I have had it around for a while so I am not sure.  The super cute ribbon is from May Arts.
